Type 2100 and type 2100K mechanical seals.
Type 2100 and 2100K seals (also known as B05) are widely used in water transfer and industrial high pressure pumps. They are a hybrid pusher /non-pusher type seal that uses an integrated bellows and shaft seal that seals in the pressure at the seal face and at the impellor end of the mechanism. A spring assists the bellows in tensioning the seal face against the stationary. They are able to be used in pumps with both clockwise and counter clockwise rotation and the intermeshing tabs built into the bellows minimize twisting and distortion of the seal mechanism in high load environments. The rotary face is commonly carbon graphite based but can also be available in silicone carbide and tungsten carbide. The stationary face is normally ceramic but can also come in silicone or tungsten carbide for specialist high wear and corrosive applications. They can handle dirty or contaminated water due to the use of a bellows. They are also able to handle high operating pressures up to 2000kpa (20 Bar).
Type 2100K is a variant of the 2100 design with a longer bellows section in the rotary section. Both seals comply with the DIN EN 12756 : 2000 standard (formerly DIN 24960) for centrifugal pump seal dimensions. The 2100K type seal has an L1 dimension (see the diagram) that complies with the L1K specification in the DIN EN 12756 : 2000 standard. This longer L1 length means that the seal spring has a longer compression length and so the 2100K seal can be preferred for higher performance applications compared to the 2100. Both the 2100 and 2100K seals are stocked by Rural Pumps in a number of common metric sizes but can be ordered in up to 100mm.
