Why should I change the rubber O-Rings in my pump? There are many parts in your pumps that keep it running smoothly, things like the mechanical seal, the impeller, or the bearings. But one of the simplest but also most critical components in your pumps is the humble rubber O-ring. It plays a huge role…
Pressure switch or pressure controller what is the difference? When your pump operates as a “pressure pump”, the pump has a constant amount of stored pressure inside it. To achieve this, the motor must be controlled automatically to start and stop the pump on a drop in pressure from the outlet valve being opened or…
The main types of mechanical seals Click on each section to find out about the range of mechanical seals we have IN STOCK at Rural Pumps: Type 6 seals are the most common seal for small domestic pressure pumps including Davey and Onga models Type 6A seals suit lower pressure irrigation and water transfer pumps….
What are the different types of mechanical seals that are used in pumps? When it comes to your water pump, the mechanical seal is a critical component for making the pump operate correctly. They’re designed to stop pressure leaking at the point where the pump shaft meets the housing. Without the seal, your pump would…
What maintenance is needed for bearings? Taking care of your electric motor bearings is like giving your car a regular service—it keeps everything running smoothly and prevents costly breakdowns down the road. Bearings are the backbone of your motor’s operation, so a little maintenance goes a long way. Here are some practical tips to help…
What are bearings? The bearings in your pump electric motor seem like small, hidden, unassuming components. They are anything but as they play a crucial role in the efficient and reliable operation of electric motors. Bearings are a component in an electric motor that both reduce friction between the motor shaft and the housing and…
The pump pressure tank is really the unsung hero of any pressure pump system. In our many years of working on pumps, we’ve noticed there’s a fair bit of confusion surrounding pressure tanks. When people contact us they usually have all sorts of ideas about what they think they do and how they work. So,…
Alright next on the list of topics to talk about are capacitors. These small and rather obscure components attached to an electric motor may keep you scratching your head wondering what they are all about, don’t worry – I’m here to debunk some mysteries. What is a capacitor? So what is a capacitor? A capacitor…
So the next part of a pump that we are giving an introduction to is mechanical seals. These little components may seem simple but they do a lot of work and make the pump function. I try and break down what a mechanical seal is into simple terms. If you are looking for a new…
Pressure switches are generally an essential part of your water pump system. So let’s kick things off with a crash course on what is a pressure switch, the unsung heroes of electric water pump systems. If you’re new to pumps, don’t worry – I’ll break it down for you in simple terms. What is a…
The AC electric motor is the one device that can be classed as making the world go around in our modern society. Everything from generating the actual power, to running air conditioning, pressurising your mains water, pumping away sewerage, operating factories, mines and industrial plants and even now running your car. All of this is…
